Quality Time

March 18, 2008

I love spending quality time with my boys!  Last night it was with my oldest son Steven.  We went to Costco to get some things for the house, mind you I hate shopping in any form so I try to limit myself to shopping for groceries etc to once a month if at all possible.  When I have one on one time with either of my boys it give them the opportunity to talk to me alone and have my undivided attention.  I love the fact that even though Steven is 15 he loves me enough and trusts me enough to ask questions about life in general in regards to girls, sex and anything else that he has questions about.  I want them to always know that they can talk to me and I will give them my opinion on whatever it is they want to discuss but in the end it is up to them to make the correct judgement call.  I have been raising my boys according to the scriptures and  how Heavenly Father would want them to be raised, granted I have my faults and I by no means am perfect but with the help of Heavenly Father I can accomplish my goals to raise morally straight, righteous and worthy boys into great men and fathers.  I know that Steven has many friends that know that they can count on him to always be a friends with no pressures that many teens face these days.

Steven is an athlete and an honor roll student as well.  I am so proud of him.  Shawn is following in his brothers footsteps and is and athlete as well as an honor roll student.  Both of my children will fight for the underdog, the disenchanted and the one who can not defend themselves against the sins of the world today and I am so proud of both of them.  I know that they both want to go to college and they both want to go on a mission for our church and that makes my heart swell with pride and confidence that I am raising them the way that Heavenly Father wants me to.

Are you spending quality time with your children?  Would love to hear your thoughts!
